Our Club

Sturt Bowling Club is a dynamic and thriving Club with a rich history. We are the third oldest cub in South Australia being founded in 1903. Most importantly we are the oldest club on its existing and only site. We can be found adjacent to Unley Oval on Trimmer Terrace, Unley.

In the Bowls SA Metropolitan Pennant competition, we currently field six sides on Saturdays, four on Wednesdays and two in the Thursday's women's competition. The club has won 68 pennants including seven pennants in Division One or A grade.

Our clubhouse is named after Dr. Jack Petchell, the 1947 Australian Open Champion. Petchell was also State Club Champion four times, won three state 'Champion of Champions' titles and nine club championships.

The club boasts an exceptional Night Owl programme with over 250 people attending on Tuesday and Thursday nights between October and March. Many 'Night Owlers' go on to play in our Pennant Competitions.

We welcome anyone to come and try bowls. Our members will assist you with bowls and free coaching.

Our Facilities are for hire at very reasonable rates - please see our Function Hire section.
