Interviewed via email after the game, Team Leader Gerry Dillon said he enjoyed the challenges of playing at Millswood:
"We always love playing Millswood, as they’re competitive and play in a great spirit.
"Their slow greens with little finish offer a great contrast to ours, but they play truly so once we get the hang of them we can play our shots and attack the head when needed."
Gerry said it took Sturt II a while to live the mantra:
"Our mantra of ‘on or beyond’ is particularly relevant at Millswood, and it took us a while to get the short bowls out of our systems before the break.
"Our Leads and Twos were particularly strong in getting bowls in winning positions.
"Some of us struggled with grass all day – it’s tempting to bowl too narrowly on slow greens, and ‘too much grass is never enough’ is equally relevant as on faster greens."
Overall, Gerry was delighted with the teamwork and encouragement:
"What was great to see across the rinks, as well as the top rate bowling, was the teamwork and encouragement that contributed to a solid win against quality opposition."
