This was a big win for the top side, says Richard Weeks

Richard Weeks, Team Leader of our top side on Wednesdays, reflecting on the exciting victory over the ladder leader Walkerville I, summarised the messages shared with the team before the game and after the break:

"We recognised it was an important game at home against the top side today.

"We reiterated the key points of being 'on or beyond' the jack, and maintaining concentration right to the very end.

"We were able to achieve the latter by being able win a very close match."

One of the keys to success, says Richard, was "the verbal encouragement and positive talk was good across the green."

It was a tough game, with some rinks shining throughout and others fighting back late in the day:

"The rinks of Welsh, Ettridge and Riddle all performed well and won comfortably.

"The rinks of Jones and Weeks were very slow out of the blocks unfortunately, but both fought back well to assist the overall team performance. "

Richard underlined the importance of the win:

"This was a big win for the top side.

"We learned we can compete with the strongest sides in the division and can close out a close match."
