Martin Fry, Team Leader of Sturt VII in the win over Colonel Light Gardens II on Saturday 10 January 2026 said he "only found out after the game that they were the top side in our division so it was a strong win by us."
"It was a strong sea breeze all day, but was consistent, so it did not influence the play too much.
"Angela Murray's rink (with Joe Capasso, Errol Koch and Joylene Koch) had a very close game and it was 18 all with an end to go, and we got a 6, so a memorable finish.
"Christopher Smyth's rink (with Giovanni Spagnuollo, Jenny Johns and Wendy Rutten) were up all day.
"My rink (with Heather Todd, Peter Vroom and Gill Potter) was up early, but once Colonel Light Gardens got the mat they started having long ends and a couple of our players struggled with the long ends....so we went down by 3.
"But a 10-2 win against the top side I will take any day of the week."
