Speaking after the game between Sturt III and West Lakes Grange I on Thursday 15 January 2026, coach Peter Hughes said that "Sturt III has had a difficult year, often playing against the number one or two sides from other clubs."
"Today at home they played in ideal conditions, with several newer players, but had an ordinary start.
"At the break two rinks were nicely up and one rink (with three first year players) down 5 – 20.
"Overall we were down 4.
During the break Peter spoke to each rink and promoted "our women’s rinks' consistent ability to have stamina, endurance, and skill in the second half."
"This belief comes from the fact that our women have a two full-hour training session every week.
"And so it came to be," said Peter.
"We outscored West Lakes Grange 39-12 in the second half.
"Diane Fullerton was outstanding in her first game as skipper and Beryl Tape, playing her first game this season, rediscovered her great form in that second half."
