Last week in the preliminary final, Alex Smith brought his Braveheart look out of the locker, with one side of his face plastered with bright blue zinc cream.
But he topped that in the Division 3S grand final last Saturday with both sides of his face covered in blue and white stripes.
"It’s been a big week for the club and a bigger weekend for my head," said Alex.
Why did he do it?
"I just wanted to do something different.
"The Braveheart look is a classic, but I usually trot out different looks during a finals series.
"I knew I was going to be pretty locked-in mentally, especially once our rink match-ups came out, so a little bit of fun in the preparation was nice."
How did his teammates and the large crowd react?
"I got the ‘Blue Zebra’ nickname from Richard 'Weeksy' all day, which was good stuff, and the usual laughs in our huddle.
"Sturt spectators also seemed amused by it, but really the amount of supporters we had as a club was amazing. Easily the biggest crowd of the three games at Lockleys that day.
"Glenelg spectators thought it was pretty unique and seemed impressed I went to the effort."
In the celebrations immediately after the game, Alex's team-mates shared the look:
"A fair few teammates were washing off zinc after the post game hugs."
