Card games at the club on a wet day, Saturday 6 June 2026

What to do when Winter Bowls is rained out?

Cheryl Saunders and Janine Skurray have organised card or board "Games Days" at 2pm on any day this occurs.

The second of these informal sessions was conducted yesterday, Saturday 6 June.

Cheryl's report below includes information about future sessions. Photos follow.

Cheryl's Report:

A small but enthusiastic crowd enjoyed some friendly competition at the club yesterday, playing cards.

Everyone battled it out - or supported from the sidelines - in groups playing Rummy 500 and Cribbage.

Janine Skurray was the eventual victor.

We all enjoyed friendly rivalry along with drinks over the bar, nibbles and great background music.

Thanks to Peter Welsh who was the "responsible person", as required.

Future events and arrangements

We'll be holding these "Game Days" every Wednesday and Saturday that Winter Bowls is cancelled.

Wonderful to nurture the already strong connections amongst SBC members through these fun sessions.

No need to RSVP, just turn up 2pm any Wednesday or Saturday that bowls is cancelled.

Bring some nibbles and the cards or board games you prefer.

You can also just rock up and join in whatever is going.

Brett and I will always bring plenty of card holders - cleverly crafted by Brett, decks of cards, and a variety of board games - we have a million or so!

No problem if you're not sure how to play, because help is always available.

The options are many. For cards - Rummy 500, Gin rummy, canasta, hearts, spades, whist, sevens, euchre, Seven Crowns, Uno and board games like Scrabble, The Big Games Night, Sequence.

Let Janine or me know what else would you like to see on this list.
