Sturt’s Wednesday pennant players completed their final pre-season trial on 7 October, with the internal matches providing one last opportunity to test combinations and sharpen performance before competition begins next week.
For the first time in the internal trials, players remained in their selected positions and all rinks played the number of ends expected in pennants, adding to the match-day feel.
Chair of Selectors Graham Wood said the pre-season program had successfully lifted Sturt’s bowling performance to the required standard, with strong teamwork, good camaraderie and some fine individual performances providing further encouragement ahead of the new season.

Sturt III played Sturt IV on Wednesday 7 October 2026 in the last trial match before Wednesday pennant competitions begin next week.
In a highly competitive match, Sturt III won the contest, winning four rinks to one.
This was the first internal trial in which players played only in their selected position and all fours rinks played 21 ends.
Meanwhile, Sturt I defeated Sturt II 4 rinks to 1.
There were also a few close matches:
12 - 20 pairs 25 - 23 fours 24 - 19 fours 35 - 15 triples 42 - 17 triples.
The concentration of players was tested with a swirling wind making it challenging for all bowlers.
Teamwork was good and there was excellent camaraderie between the sides.
There were fine individual performances by many bowlers.
The pre-season has been a useful period to bring our bowling performance up to the required standard and we are all enthusiastic about the season ahead.
