Coach’s Corner

What a fantastic start to our 2025/26 campaign!

Our seven Saturday sides continue to improve each week, with many bowls now sitting on the right side of the line. The focus remains on steady progress across all teams as we head toward March. Our gendered midweek sides are also thriving. There’s healthy competition for selection, and it’s great to see such a strong appetite for improvement across the club!

I have been impressed with the strong participation from our members for the varied coaching sessions. Continued development is vital as we grow — both in membership and as a high-performing club.

Training sessions are open to all members on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30–6:00 pm, with flexibility to arrive late or leave early to suit your schedule. Please remember to book via the online link on our website, which helps me tailor sessions to those attending.

Targeted Sessions – December

  • 2nd & 4th Dec: Skippers and Thirds – focus on calling a head, risk vs reward, and building a head.
  • 9th & 11th Dec: Leaders and Singles – focus on mindset and first bowl pressure.
  • 16th Dec: Division 7, 6, and 5 sides.
  • 18th Dec: Division 4 and 3 sides.

Everyone is welcome to attend any of these sessions — even if it’s just one. Whether you’re seeking focused improvement or simply putting down bowls for self-evaluation, every bit of practice counts!

It’s also fantastic to see the Club Championships in full swing, with many matches taking place on Fantastic Fridays and Super Sundays. The support from members cheering on their teammates has been outstanding — keep entering, playing, and refining your game!

As always, if you have any questions or want a quick tip, I’m happy to offer five minutes of guidance at the bar whenever possible.

This months tip: Aim to finish your bowl on or beyond.
