What were the selectors' thinking? They positioned Frank Sabatino - the notorious prankster and stirrer - between two of the most verbally adept women bowlers in the club, Michelle Kirby and Maria Canala. Recipe for disaster?
No, it worked. The chemistry was magic and they clicked, as shown in the feature photo, with Frankie beaming widely as he strides across the green to greet his skip, Michelle, with Maria behind him, grinning as well.
And the result on their rink, which included impressive newcomer Di Phillips, was a massive 22-7 victory.
The selectors also nailed it pairing another well-known provocateur, Wayne Berryman, with the genteel Peter Mann. Look closely at the photos of their interactions and it is clear that Peter is a bit amazed at Wayne's antics.
But as with their neighbouring rink, the chemistry worked and the Mann-Berryman combo - backed up by the experienced John French and the increasingly effective Sue Kasprzak - won their battle with Walkerville.
Meanwhile the team on the third rink, led by the masterful skipper Dick Sismey, battled well and the Sturt VI team came away with a commanding 56-39 win.
Take a bow, selectors.
