The delayed Division 3 South game between our top side and Port Noarlunga II last Friday was a great experience, says club coach and team leader, Izzy Trenorden.
"The messaging to the team before the game was simply to enjoy the experience of a Friday night, under lights, with a home crowd."
"The crowd was a delight - a great turn out considering the hot weather - and there was certainly plenty of cheering. We loved it."
Before the game, Izzy also talked to the team about supporting Sturt's six replacement players:
"We spoke about making a bit of noise when those promoted up into the side play a good shot, as this only boosts their confidence and, subsequently, the team’s."
A big learning from the game was the depth of quality players at Sturt:
"The rescheduled Friday night did create some selection headaches with six regular players unavailable, but the ones that came into the team showed the depth of quality we have at the club.
"To take away 12 points against a full strength Port Noarlunga was great."
