The stand-out rink was led by ever-dependable Ralph Hounslow, says Derrick Witt

Derrick Witt, Team Leader of Sturt IV versus Payneham V, Saturday 10 January 2025, reports that "the playing conditions on the day were testing for all players".

But despite the various challenges presented by the weather, "one constant throughout the day was the quality of the greens, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the greenkeepers".

Derrick also has high praise for "the rink led by the ever-dependable Ralph Hounslow, which included Noal Mullins, Alan King and Brian Dunstall, finished as the standout rink of the day.

"Their collective skill and great bowling contributed significantly to securing an overall win for the side.

"The team effort was commendable, especially under such demanding conditions. Winning 15 ends to 3, scoring 32 to 6, a standout performance.

"The two rinks led by Phil Scardigno (with Paul Badenoch, Matt Jeffrey and Jackie Hammond) and me (with Joanne Kirby, Frank Sabatino and Robb Nuus) battled all day and reaped the rewards of a never-give-up attitude, supporting and encouraging team members.

"Both rinks came home to win by narrow margins in the final stages of the game."

For Derrick the key learnings from the day were "never give up, every bowl counts, teamwork matters and never judge a book by its cover".
