Richard Weeks, Team Leader of Sturt I versus Para Hills I, Wednesday 14 January was confident before the game:
"They were perfect conditions for bowls, although the greens were a little slower than expected.
"On paper, Sturt I named its strongest Wednesday side all year.
"Para Hills were the bottom side prior to this match - we had beaten them at their home earlier in the season and we were hopeful of repeating the dose."
Unfortunately, said Richard, several Sturt rinks "got off to slow starts, and at half time we were in a decent hole on the big board."
"Credit must be paid to all rinks who were down at half time, as all fought back well.
"Particular praise goes to the rinks of Weaver/Sinkinson/Van Der Veen/Welsh and Webster/Clohesy/Jones, who were both down uncomfortably large margins but fought back to win.
"In addition, the pairs combination of Weeks/Riddle had a win, making it a total of three rinks up (6 points).
"However, overall the team lost in a disappointing performance on our home deck.
"This is one we will need to get back with an away win somewhere, whilst aiming of course to win all our home matches.
"All teams in this division are rather evenly matched, so lapses can be very expensive.
"We fight on next week."
