Even a family of piping shrikes who live at the club joined in the fun, setting up in the middle of B green, staring down the bowlers and jumping out of the way of bowls aimed at them.
The Blue Shirt brigade had everything in hand and the new sound system worked beautifully.
It was a great night to be outside, with the sun streaking across the superb greens, and with the backdrops of Unley Oval to the north and Mount Lofty Ranges to the east.
