In a commanding performance, Sturt pulled away and won comfortably

Matthew Jeffrey was team leader of Sturt V who travelled to Colonel Light Gardens to play Marion in an elimination final on Saturday 7 March 2026.

Matt said the "conditions were quite mild and the green - while being reasonably paced - was inconsistent in some areas."

"We had beaten Marion in our previous contest and approached the game with confidence.

"Before the match we stressed the importance of making sure we kept any losses to a minimum in a 'shots up' scenario.

"And we wanted plenty of voice and encouragement."

Matt was delighted to report that "the match was tight across the board early, but in a commanding performance Sturt pulled away and won comfortably with all rinks winning."

"It was a particularly good effort when you consider Marion were on top of the ladder for a large part of the season."

Everyone bowled well:

"Our leads and seconds built the head beautifully which allowed the other bowlers to capitalise.

"All bowlers made a good contribution but a 'shout out' must go to Nick Manglaras for his 'bowl of the century' taking us from four down to one up on the eleventh end."

And the crowd played its part, said Matt:

"A big thank you to the many Sturt people who came and watched."
