Lockleys Bowling Club witnessed Sturt's 74th Pennant as our top side held off the challenge from Glenelg I to record a convincing 92-70 victory. On a glorious autumn day, Sturt I jumped the opposition early but as good sides do, Glenelg I worked their way back into the contest, but our finish was just too good.
Congratulations to Kim Keane, Stephen Jones, Neville Riddle & Jack Trenorden in a remarkable 36-19 victory and as such are the Grand Final rink of the day.
All 16 were in the thick of the action and the following perspective is offered by a passionate observer:
Tommy Wise - again, a very good game as the premier division clubs now circle with their form fours.
Steve van der Veen - very consistent with the flying Dutchman dropping some big bombs
Richard Weeks - classy, hurt the opposition
Alex Smith - great outing, changed things.
Adam Hill - reliable & spirited.
Nathan Bassett - never far away.
Jonno Webster - good, some big bowls when the match got tight.
Shane Ettridge - big bowls also that provided the bounce to get the rink back on track
Henk Pelgrim - outstanding.
Riley Harrison - very solid, those yellow Picassos found a way.
Paul Clohesy - some great work, particularly after "lemon" time
Isaac Trenorden - calmness under pressure was inspirational.
Kim Keane - drew shot on the first end and was thereabouts throughout.
Steve Jones - exploded out of the blocks and finished strong.
Neville Riddle - always dangerous.
Jack Trenorden - phenomenal.
And so it was................
