Just one of the many positive contributions to the club culture by the Sturt women's group is their ability to celebrate in style.
Our trusted reporter Sonia Matteucci was on hand at the end-of-season dinner for the women's pennant bowlers on Monday evening 23 March and filed this summary and marvellous photos.
Sonia Matteucci's Report:
The Sturt Women’s end of season dinner was held at the Earl of Leicester Hotel.
It was a wonderful gathering of the Sturt Bowling Club women’s teams and coaches celebrating what was a successful season culminating in a premiership win for our Sturt 1 Division 2 East team.
Board member Wendy Rutten opened the evening with a funny slide show.
Then club member and Platinum Sponsor Sharon Grey entertained us with a clever “Bowling” singalong to the tune of Dolly Parton’s 'Jolene'.
This was followed by gift presentations to our coaches.
We all had a delicious meal, drinks were flowing and there was plenty of chit chat.
We’re all looking forward to what the next season of bowls will bring!
Sturt II lunch
A few weeks back, the Sturt II women's team held a relaxed, elegant lunch at Living Choice in Highgate, the other Platinum Sponsor of the club.
Janet Mullins reports that "this team is very committed and we nearly made the final four after winning 11 games over the season".
"We really enjoy the camaraderie of our teammates and have great commitment and passion to win."
A favourite memory of Janet's is that "Glenelg won the grand final in our division and my rink won against Glenelg. It was a great win".
"Roll on 2027 bowling season."
