This year's competition for the highly coveted unofficial award of Brightest Bowler at Winter Bowls took a new twist on Saturday 23 May.
Recently the men surged to the front of the competition, donning their decades-old rock band t-shirts.
But on Saturday, in grey overcast conditions, only a few rock diehards like Steve van der Veen and Paul Teesdale dared to wear their fading t-shirts in the cold conditions.
Meanwhile, Bob Rutten pulled on the striped top that won him the award last year and Martin Fry challenged the women in a stunning bright yellow rugby top.
And John French pulled on a sensible blue beanie to match his polo top.
However, the women were the standouts, including: Joylene Koch in a dramatic bright red jumper; Cheryl Saunders in a classy multi-coloured top; Karen Esdale in elegant maroon slacks; and Janine Skurray in a stunning orange blouse.
Imaginative women won the day.
The competition continues.
