The sun came out and finally we got another shot at Winter Bowls. With 5 of the last 7 Saturdays abandoned, it was with relief we finally got on.
32 bowlers presented at Sturt with the flying Dutchmen being prominent.
Bob Rutten won the day with +17 while "compatriots" Robb Nuus +14 & Steve van der Veen +11 filled 2nd & 3rd. David Beales +10 & Jackie Hammond +8 were prominent in finishing 4th & 5th.
Best 2nd round @ +8 was David McVicar & David Beales while the draws were won by Libby Lock & Jackie Hammond.
So, the Saturday Winter Shield comes down to Steve van der Veen and Bob Rutten. A Dutch shootout and if their form replicates that of the Netherlands in the recent World Game World Cup, neither will win!!!!
Paul Badenoch, Stew Allen, Alan Speck & Libby Lock still have a shot @ Shield runner up.
Bowl them close this Saturday as the sun will be out and a lot is on the line.
