Izzy Trenorden, the Team Leader of the Sturt I side on Saturday, knew that the game against Ascot Park III would be tough, and before the game and during it, encouraged the team to stay confident and increase its 'voice' on the green:
"We spoke about how we are playing good bowls and need to continue to do that.
"Additionally we spoke about increasing our voice on the green.
"And with some new players in the side today (Andy Hardy, Alan Catterall, Toby Carter), it was the perfect day to do it."
The game was in the balance at the break, but Sturt found a way through:
"It was a bit touch and go at the break, but we pushed really hard after the break and came back with a heap of momentum."
"Shane Ettridge and rink (Neville Riddle, Peter Hughes, Kim Keane) had an absolute day out and held strong all day."
