Nick Manglaras, Team Leader of Sturt IV on Wednesday 14 January, speaking after the exciting win over Adelaide III, said it was "a gutsy effort from the Sturt IV boys today, with a nail biting win against Adelaide lll, despite two rinks down."
Nick highlighted the "great fight back from Bruce Williams' rink (with Gareth Lloyd, Wayne Berryman and Peter Mann) to come back from a long way to only go down by a couple of shots."
"The other two rinks had big margins each way."
Nick's own rink of Peter Quick, Noal Mullins and Robb Nuss won commandingly, 25-6.
As so often happens in pennants, it all came down to the last rink to finish. "All eyes were on the Martin Fry rink (Neville Robinson, Dean Buder and Alan King) at the end to not go down by a big margin," said Nick.
"With a big audience assembled and with great skill they won the last two ends."
That left "Sturt up by four shots at the end, taking the 6 points for an 8 point total and celebrating afterwards with a cold ale."
