(it's not) Rocket Science....

Greetings from the beautiful Cotswold town of Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire.

I was tempted to title this article "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World". Tempted but resisted! Sturt Bowling Club has been well represented in the UK over the festive period, with Jono Webster also in Scotland at that time and Tommy Wise down in England. Tom sent me the photo of the old "Rocket Train": not sure whether that was a reference to another old relic or not!

Had a very interesting encounter in Troon when I took a taxi to pick up my hire car for the trip. The driver mentioned he was coming to Australia in February to play bowls in the BPL. "Oh, what's your name?" "Paul Foster" he replied! Paul Foster MBE, 6 times world champion and games gold medalist! Amazing. I shall order his taxi again when I drop the car back and have a membership form handy. He is currently playing in the World Indoor Championships not far from here.

I've also enjoyed reading the club updates on our website, and while not the same as actually being at the club, the articles from Teesa and John Mitchell are well written and keep me up to date on all things Sturt. I get back on the 28th of this month and can't wait to get back to the club and on the greens; see you then. Rocket.
