Overall, a really good win - a statement to the competition, says Izzy Trenorden

Izzy Trenorden, club coach and team leader of Sturt I v Clarence Gardens I, Saturday 17 January, was a happy man reflecting on the game.

"It was a beautiful day at Sturt this weekend, the sun was shining, the beers were cold and there was a slight breeze to keep you cool.

"Pre game we just spoke about having fun. We knew that we had a job in front of us, but not to lose sight of enjoying the day.

"Weeksy's and Jack’s rinks played brilliantly. They drew close and didn’t miss their runners."

Richard Weeks' rink included Bryce Weaver, Nathan Bassett and Stephen Jones and won 33-12.

Jack Trenorden's rink included Steve Van Der Veen, Riley Harrison and Kim Keane and was the club rink-of-the-day, with a 33-10 score-line.

"It was an important statement for both rinks as we push for a finals berth," continued Izzy.

"I don’t think anyone jumped away, in fact I think Weeksy was down by a handful early. Weeksy's rink then went on a 24 (give or take) shot winning streak.

Key learnings from the game? "How important each and every role and bowl is. Each person in the rink playing your role leads to these 30-10 rink wins."

"Overall, a really good win. A statement to the competition."
