Twenty Sturt women in five teams dressed in appropriately flamboyant fashion for the Ladies Spring Gala at Payneham Bowling Club on Monday 28 September.
In recent years, Sturt women have participated in a wide range of festive events at other bowling clubs, including Victor Harbor, Kapunda, Nuriootpa, Mildura, Waikerie and Kangaroo Island.
Many of these events have called for colourful or festive outfits, and the Sturt contingent has enthusiastically embraced the challenge — sometimes with decidedly zany results.
The social adventures continue next month, when another Sturt group heads back to Kapunda for bowls, dinner at the pub and an overnight stay.
At Payneham, there was also some success on the green, with Julie Short delighted that her team finished third among the 29 teams competing.
Four of the five Sturt teams at Payneham are captured in the following photos.
