Thursday Night Owls opened on a glorious balmy evening. We have 33 sides registered, up from 30 last year. Welcoming new sides Trimmer Terrors, Rolls Bowls, Unbiased Opinions and Flippers (who transferred from Tuesdays), we know you will enjoy the experience. Bullwinkles have rebadged as Hooters and we say a fond farewell to retiring sides Bowls Of Steel & Even Bias.
Champion rink was Norty Sportys with a 33-3 win. The Cheryl Saunders inspired Superb Owls thought they were a chance on debut but could only manage a 28-4 result!
Long suffering Wombat supporters would be encouraged by their opening 18-6 win over Jack's Folly. Club stalwart Stew Allen in true Presidential style was heard to quip post-match, "All the way with SA"!! Hijackers with veteran recruit Frankie Sabatino were still no match for Gangsters of Love succumbing 7-25. Adam Hill's 120Ys fell 7 shots against Completely Biased but the bonus here was the game finished before 930pm.
Dale's Blue Crew vs Clifton Rollers and Bowling Stones vs Blue Swimmers had enthralling draws while Peter McDonald's Bowls Brothers found the line by 1 shot over Gerry Kreig's Dags2ditches.
Next week Completely Biased take on Test Eagles in a rink 14 thriller while Girls With Bowls hope to continue their great form with a likely clash against new kids on the block Rolls Bowls. Superb Owls, Four Amigos, Norty Sportys, Wombats and Trimmer Terrors have the bye.
