Photographs from Night Owls on Tuesday 27 October 2026 provide some extra insight into a question currently being explored by Bowls SA: why do people keep coming back to Night Owls?
As part of its current media campaign, Bowls SA filmed two legends of Sturt’s Night Owls, Adam Hill and Dave Howard, and asked them that very question.
Their answers, in summary: they love the game, the mateship, the beer — and having fun.
But the photos from Tuesday night suggest there may be a few additional attractions.
People love the competition, the intensity, the tension and the drama.
They simply love winning an end — and celebrating it.
They know that if they lose the current end, they will have another chance eight or so minutes later to put things right.
They fondly remember the night they had a toucher and won a voucher.
And somewhere in the back of their minds, they know they always have a chance of winning one of the many raffle prizes after the game.
Perhaps the motivations of Night Owlers run deeper than we thought.
