Excitement is building around the imminent announcement of Sturt Bowling Club’s biggest annual — but entirely unofficial — award, Photo of the Year.
Recently, we unveiled the first contender, ‘Victoria Triumphant’, showing the normally demure Victoria Kavanagh striding triumphantly down the green and revealing a side to her character we had somehow missed during her four seasons at the club.
Today we announce another contender: ‘The Sharon & Jodie Show’.
The photo captures Sharon Irwin and Jodie Semmler resplendent in blue as enthusiastic cheerleaders at the winning Grand Final of our Sturt I Thursday team in March this year.
They brought the same outfits — and the same energy — to the Sturt I Saturday Grand Final soon afterwards, prompting one theory that their support helped lift Jack Trenorden and his rink to superhuman heights.
In terms of club spirit, enthusiasm and humour, Sharon and Jodie certainly made their mark.
