Bowlers were greeted with sunny conditions in week 2 of Tuesday Night Owls but as the evening progressed, the chilly conditions set in as sides fought out some terrific contests. Champion rink was John Doyle's Cambridge Rollers whose 22-8 defeat of Tony Fiore's Smoking Grass see them as top of the pops! Smoking Grass after showing promise in week 1 disappointed, they are developing new blood but dare not use the "rebuild" word down @ the Grasslands.
Silvio Marrollo is in terrific form personally across all forms and his Bungala Wine had another solid outing with an 18-8 win over Peter Bonnini's Wander Bowls. Claire Bencini's Mixers and Ed Parker's 8inthditch served notice with respective 19-7, 17-8 victories over Lesley Dunstall's Vixen and Christopher Smyth's Rangatangs.
Back Enders, Bonza Bowlers and Ring Ins had their first hit outs for the season, and all saluted. Jimmy Stein's Back Enders were 14-8 to the good of Rob Goode's Blue Baggers, Barry James' Bonza Bowlers were clinical in their 24-11 match vs Jeff Evans' Lillees and Andrea Glynn's Ring Ins (formerly Crackerjaks) had a terrific 1 shot win over David Waye's Bobbleheads.
And let us not forget Di Fullerton's Strikers who's courageous 3 shot win over Jodie Flynn's Bay City Bowlers see them undefeated after 2 rounds. Measured confidence emanates from the Strikers franchise inner sanctum.
Next week on Foxtel Rink 4 fierce rivals in Maria Schumaker's Here Kitty Kitty take on Smoking Grass. The later will welcome back Nick Manglaras who was mysteriously demoted to the sidelines last evening! Blue Baggers will be tested by Andrew Bartlett's in form Bowling Stones, Lillees seek to turn things around against Jayson Cameron's Morry's Bowl Cuts and the high profile Bungala Wine and Mixers clash in what should be an absolute blockbuster.
Keep rolling those bowls closer and enjoy.
