Izzy Trenorden, club coach and team leader of Sturt I on Saturday 21 February 2026, said it was a "tough day against Millswood II".
"Pre-game we spoke about respecting their ability and that they probably shouldn’t be bottom of the ladder.
Then, as Izzy half-anticipated, "at the break, we were once again in the hot seat."
But it was "not all doom and gloom with Alex Smith's rink up by a handful, but Jack's rink was down big with my rink also down a handful."
"After the break each and every Sturt rink got firing, specifically their last 4-5 ends on each rink which got us back to within a handful."
Then the drama went to a new level:
"Shane Ettridge’s rink played out their last end really strongly; with an awesome effort by his front end.
"Sturt had five bowls past the jack (the opposition had none).
"On the crossover, we were seven down overall and Shane was three down on the head with an enticing jack sitting there to be potted for six on his last bowl.
"After a quick discussion, we decided as a group, that Izzy had three ends left to play, and if Shane doesn’t get the jack into the ditch, the overall difference moves to ten shots, with three ends to play.
"So, Shane obligingly chose to go back and draw the shot. He played it to perfection, +1 to Sturt and -6 was the overall situation.
"Great team play. Well done Shane and team."
The drama then reached its high point:
"My rink then played out three very tight ends, +1, +4, +1 to DRAW!
"A great game against our great friends at Millswood, played in good spirit and with plenty of laughs."
Fortunately, Toby Carter was on hand to take the following photo of the final end, with a large crowd assembled.
Rocket said later: "On the last end we were one shot down and we scored one, for the tie. Deano counted 77 punters watching on." And Izzy described the crowd as "epic".
