Richard Weeks, team leader of Sturt I (5th on the ladder) on Wednesday 18 February in the home game against Semaphore I (7th on the ladder), reported that the conditions were ideal but the importance of the match was high:
"Perfect conditions at Sturt Bowling Club today. Nice to have some cooler temperatures. The greens played as well as they looked."
Clear messages were conveyed to the team: "the importance of the match was recognised, particularly in terms of it being a home match, and vital for our finals chances."
It turned out to be a dramatic day: "The overall match was close all day, with both teams leading by up to 10-12 shots at different times."
"In the end it came down to the last bowl of the last end of the match with Sturt needing one to draw, two to win overall.
"Unfortunately we didn't get the result and lost by two shots overall."
"The result means we have lost ground in our chase for a finals spot, but with two matches still to be played we remain in the hunt."
