As a side I believe we will get better at navigating the big moments in games

Matthew Jeffrey, team leader of Sturt V for its preliminary final against Ascot Park VII on Saturday 14 March 2026, found many positives to highlight in his report on the game.

Matthew Jeffrey's Report:

Conditions were mild and the green was running at a reasonable pace but by no means was it a fast green.

We spoke before the game about using our voices and being match aware when it came to shot selection.

We knew Ascot Park were consistent performers across the board and that is why it is disappointing that they jumped us at the start.

Unfortunately your correspondent could not heed his own advice with a disappointing personal performance.

To our credit we fought back but were beaten narrowly.

As a side I believe we will get better at navigating the big moments in games.

Ed Parker's rink came from behind to win.

Nick Manglaras and Neil Fisher and their rinks kept hanging in there.

Peter Quick had a very solid game.

Janine Skurray and Bronwyn Perry were ferocious in their encouragement throughout the whole of the finals series.

David Paley provided plenty of muscle and Ed Parker lead his rink with assurance.

Paul Badenoch had two very solid finals games.

It was a privilege to be team leader during the finals.

A big thank you to all the Sturt people who came out to support us.

I thank all the players who played during the year.

It takes a whole Club to be successful.
