As always, an exciting time for us at Sturt BC. The AGM has come and gone and a very good attendance on the day. It's a pleasure to welcome Di Phillips to the Board for the first time and to have the inimitable (Retired) Major Deane Pye back on Board and sure the keep the troops in line! As many of you have commented, the elevation of Matty Jeffrey to Life Membership was a nice touch at the meeting. Life Membership per our Constitution is for the continued provision of exceptional service(s) to the club. As part of our annual Board agenda, we will revisit other potential candidates when the time is right.
Julie Bates presented our "Help Us Do More" fundraising initiative and I thank Julie for the mountain of work she has put in to get this launched. There is plenty on our website about this now and I really encourage you to consider how you may contribute.
You will have seen my email regarding our meeting with City of Unley on our clubhouse redevelopment and we are now getting towards the detailed understanding of exactly how and when this will occur. You can be assured I will keep you posted and seek your advice on key matters.
Finally on Tuesday just gone it was wonderful to see Chris Oerman back at the club for a brief visit. Chris advises that he is currently in remission from his lymphoma, but with 3 more cycles of treatment to come this could impact his immunity so he will still need to be careful: Great to see you mate.
