Tuesday Night Owls kicked off with a bang last evening albeit by night's end, conditions had come in chilly and the greens rolling slow.
31 sides have registered for the 2026-27 season, down from 35 in 2025-26. Flippers have transferred to Thursday Nights while Proof Wine Bar BC, Calling All Ducks & Who Let The Bowls Out have retired, hopefully only temporarily. Crackerjaks & Mollydookers have been respectively rebadged as Ring Ins & 3rd Time Lucky.
Rink of the Night Honours went to Paul Adams' Zigger Zaggers with a 24-7 win over Fiona Mansfield's Bowled & Beautiful. Both sides accepted a $20 Bar Voucher for their efforts.
Brian Clancy's Mixers and Tim Bright's Green Moon toughed out a 14-14 draw on the unforgiving rink 14 while Jeff Evans' Lillees outstayed Jody Flynn's Bay City Bowlers 15-13 with Royal Routines over Blue Baggers 14-13 and Strikers 15-12 to the better of Bobbleheads.
Silvio Marrollo's Bungala Wine, Robb Nuus' Ponderosa and Andy Hardy's EFMrs had promising first up performances.
Next week Mick Kelly's Dilligaf take on Hayden John's Bias in an interesting match up while Andrea Glynn's Ring Ins, Terry Dickson's Back Enders and Ros Carmen's Bonza Bowlers open their seasons with likely respective clashes against Bobbleheads, Blue Baggers and Lillees.
Enjoy the season, it is a great show!
