Saturday Round 1 saw Sturt grab 2 wins, but 4 sides were on the wrong side of the ledger.
Rink of the day honours - Kim Keane, Rachel Krebbekx, Richard Weeks and Jack Trenorden 29-6 @ Holdfast Bay I where the top side had a resounding 110-54 shot victory. All rinks up in Sturt's first Division 2 outing. Rosewater I visit this Saturday who succumbed to Marion II at home in a cliffhanger.
In Division 5 East, the Magoos struggled to shake Payneham III, eventually falling in by 5 shots. 3 rinks up with we suspect a bit left in the tank; we now travel to Prospect Broadview II who also took the round 1 points by 5 shots away to Ascot Park V.
At Hawthorn V, our 3rds fell 1 shot short in a classic encounter. Margie Haines' rink won well but was not enough to cover 3 tight losses. This Saturday we host Beaumont III who had a solid home win over Tranmere IV.
The 4ths could not hold out Walkerville III albeit we were 2 rinks to 1 to the good. Division 6 East is gettable for Sturt IV so this week's away encounter to Kensington Marryatville IV is needed. They will be keen as they were well beaten away to Lockleys IV in round 1.
Our 5th side hosted Millswood V and our sisters & brothers from the western City of Unley precinct were 3 shots better. The rink of Diana Frankcom, Matty Jeffrey, David Beales and John Griffith produced a bomb of game with a 27-7 victory, just missing rink of the day status. We focus on Novar Gardens IV who had a tricky round 1 away trip where they succumbed to Woodville VI by 26 shots.
And finally, our 6th side's trip to Hawthorn VII was disappointing as we fell short by 38 shots. We look forward to hosting Torrensville III in Round 2 whose round 1 home form was impressive.
Keep those bowls rolling, heads high and just keep it simple.
