Winter Bowls was highlighted this week by the Anzac Day ceremony led by esteemed Club member, Major (ret.) Deane Pye. Deane provided the 50 members in attendance a rare insight into the Anzac tradition and its importance in commemorating the service of over 1.5 million women and men in Australian military operations.

Wednesday saw a strong field of 50 bowlers with Jackie Hammond continuing her fine form and taking the day with a score of +34. Runner up was the ever reliable Steve van der Veen on +30 with Joyous Janine Skurray +28, Slick Silvio Marrollo +24 and Peter Welsh +22 filling the minor placings. Jackie Hammond & Mick Underwood are joint Wednesday Shield leaders.

Saturday also saw 50 punters. Inspired by the Anzac Day commemoration and with the sun beaming, a great day was had by all. Paul Teesdale +30, Steve van der Veen +19, Alan Speck, Bob Rutten & Cath Stevens +17 were around the mark. Libby Lock is Saturday Shield leader.
